A New Biogeographic Process for Natura 2000 Areas

Aspen International was recently part of a successful bid, led by ECNC, to manage the EU biogeographical seminar process on behalf of DG Environment for the next three years. The European Commission initiated a new programme of seminars to help Member States develop effective measures to achieve favourable conservation status for species and habitats that are under threat in EU27 countries. This is a collaborative project that seeks to bring together national statutory bodies, experts and other representatives from relevant Member States so that experiences of common problems can shared and sustainable management solutions developed.


Ecosystem Service Lectures at Edinburgh University

Empetrum nigrum

Dr Roger Catchpole, Director of Aspen International and Honorary Fellow of Edinburgh University, delivered two lectures as part of a taught postgraduate MSc programme on the Human Dimensions of Environmental Change and Sustainability. This course is provided by the School of Geosciences which also hosts the first honours degree programme on Ecosystem Services in the UK.
